Our Story
Visionary Leadership
SpeakUp was founded in 2017 by Dr. Avanthi Paplikar, a renowned expert with a PhD from CUNY New York, a Post-Doctoral Fellowship from NIMHANS, and a Gold Medal in MSc Speech & Hearing from the University of Mysore. With 15 years of clinical and research experience, Dr. Paplikar has a profound expertise in the rehabilitation of stroke aphasia, Alzheimer’s disease, other dementias, developmental disorders in children, stuttering, swallowing disorders, ASD, and ADHD.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Paplikar actively engages in research and is committed to staying updated with recent evidence-based practices, further enhancing her expertise. She closely collaborates with professionals from multiple fields such as neurologists, paediatricians, neuropsychologists, psychiatrists and others, enriching her practice with a multidisciplinary approach.
Dr. Avanthi Paplikar is an esteemed member of several professional societies, including the Indian Speech and Hearing Association (ISHA), Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), and the Bilingualism, Language and Literacy SIG meeting of Diversity PIA of ISTAART Alzheimer’s Association. She has also served on various committees, including the ISHA sub-committee for Research and Training Promotion and the Protocol Advisory Group for the Karnataka Brain Health Initiative (KaBHI). Additionally, Dr. Paplikar holds the position of Associate Editor at the Journal of Hearing, Language, and Speech published by the Bangalore Speech and Hearing Trust.
